The Retire Well Program Has Launched
The retirement program Retire Well launched online at First Responder Wellness on June 21, 2022. It took about 30 months (January 2019 - June 2021) and many exceptional individuals to conceptualize, develop, and translate the retirement. About 75 participants registered for the one-day Retire Well program online.
I am deeply grateful to all who participated in the development of the retirement program. I want to extend special acknowledgment to my academic mentor (2016-2021) and dissertation committee chair, Noralyn Pickens, Ph.D., OT. Heather Williams, PsyD, supported the recruitment of study participants. Also, special thanks to retired first responders, social workers, and occupational therapy professionals who participated in the conceptualization of the retirement program. The program has been developed with the help of Stephen Odom, Ph.D., and his team at First Responder Wellness.
It takes a village to make dreams come true. My goal that realized was to develop a retirement program for first responders because I believe that retirement planning is crucial to successful adaptation to retirement. Healthy habits before retirement will boost health and well-being, which are essential for successful adaptation to retirement. This significant life change requires timely preparation. First Responder Wellness now offers the Retire Well program, and first responders can register for free on November 10, 2022. Contact Dr. Bo for further information if you are interested in participating in the retirement training.
